After a lot of hesitation and thought process behind this post, i have no choice but need some suggestions on the scenario i am facing: I have been working for this manager since almost over a year now, understanding the situation and delivery deadline pressure I and couple of other teammates spent nights and days in the office for around 3-4 months to get the product delivered all of us had this one thing in mind to basically achieve what we have started and wanted to have this feeing of accomplishment. Instead of thanking us for our efforts and appreciate our mindset to go above and beyond for delivery, manager never stopped expecting more and more from us and in addition to it rude and bad behavior is stilll going on, even after doing so much for the manager, team and project today as well before shouting in front of the entire team and insulting very rudely in front of everyone she does not think once!! i have tried to keep calm and understand the situation from leadership and pressure of delivery and tried to give all benifit of doubts to the leadership but now i think it is crossing every single limits... whethere it’s a family emergency or a huge function like wedding we all have to think about taking one day off and have to be scared that she will make sure to make us work like crazy before we go on PTO and try to insult us every now and then as she knows we wont be here when we take off.. there are literally more than 10 people left the team because of this hostile behavior, not everyone has a choice some have visa issues and others have personal reasons... but this is no way to lead a team at all and now i dont want to shut my mouth and want to take some strict actions against it... no one from the team has any guts to tell anything in front of the manager and every single person is scared because she makes that kind of an environment for the team.. people are not able to leave at the usual working hours and need to come up with different reasons for leaving at 6-6:30 PM from the office!! We feel like we need to send Out of office invite for weekends because there are so many weekends we were expected to work.. and being an oversmart person she tried to put these kind of statements in front of us like we are committed and responsible employees and equally responsible for working like this .. wanted to be annonymous as this can affect all of our careers including manager’s and i dont want to do that but any suggestions to deal with this situation is appreciated?? i know i can leave the team anytime but that wont teach her any lessons or she wont come to know that this is not the way to lead... this is no way close to being a great leader!! This is not just a rant or something, i would like to take some organized professional steps against this and would like to know any suggestions if i can do something about this? Thank you!
Need a tldr
You're overthinking this. Leave the company. Next.
I’m just gonna go ahead and say that you could talk to HR, talk to next level management, talk to anyone, heck call your manager out. Honestly, whatever steps you take, it’s probably not gonna improve your situation much. It might be a good idea to try to find something else in the company or elsewhere. These kinds of situations just don’t typically work out in the worker’s favor. I’ve had my fair share of crappy bosses and they’re still with the company. Just try to take a lateral move if you can.
Why are you working nights and weekends for this horrible manager? Why are your teammates? You get paid to work 9-5. Do that and go home and don't think about it.
Stopped reading at “since almost over a year now”
Yeah this was terrible to read, like the fever dream of a second year English student.
Ok.
Raise fucking hell, try to get the bad people fired, and then leave anyway because you'll be really burnt out and bitter. But at least you'll know you did the right thing.
Talk to your coworkers and build a case against her. More the merrier. Don’t try to tackle this situation alone. Once you got enough votes, setup a team meeting with her and talk about the situation as a group. Highlight all details that is effecting everyone. If that doesn’t work, do the same with Sr. Manager.
Can't believe this happened in Cisco!!
Whew! Is there a question in there, or is this just a rant....
