Failed onsite again. It’s getting ridiculous at this point. Months of work, prep is just gone. I just hate it even more when I have to complete take-homes then 5-hours of on-site and then I fail. How much perfect I need to be? I am excelling at work here, regularly studying, multiple side projects. I’m even doing great on technical interviews and on-site. And my soft skills are great too, never had an issue. I am really desperate to leave cause AT&T just doesn’t feel right for me. And I fear if I stay here longer my skills will regress 🙈😞 It’s hard to get interviews in first place. 90% of the times I’m just rejected in resume screening itself. Life is so unfair sometimes. As much as I do the hard work, struggle, luck isn’t on my side at all. With that said, if any of y’all teams are hiring just give me a chance. If you don’t like my profile, happy to get constructive criticism. TC: 110K YOE: 1.3 Position: Data Analyst (but all work is data science)
Which roles you were targeting ?
Data Scientist. Junior Data Scientist Associate Data Scientist
Didn’t know Sallu Bhai moved to US and now works as a software engineer 😂 But jokes aside, I completely get how you’re feeling right now, and I hope you can get the next big opportunity soon.
Sallubhai ke din abhi kharab hai 🙏😆 But thanks!
Maybe spend less time on blind and more on prep?
You are so nice I love you
Thanks… I love me too
The prep didn’t go anywhere. Treat every failure as a learning opportunity because that’s what it is
True. It’s just that I been failing too many times now lol.
Hey ATT. Just wanted to say keep your head up and keep on trying. You only need one yes out of all the nos. Glad to hear that you understand what you could've done better. Also I agree with you on all the shit u have to put up with e.g. take home and several hours of interviewing. It'll pay off some day. It just sucks today. It's OK to vent. We've all been there and understand. Shitty day. Have a beer, relax. Do something to relieve some stress. You'll make it.
Thanks!! Yeah I’ll definitely keep trying. Thanks for the kind words :) Appreciate it.
Have you tried applying for Data Engineering positions instead of DS? DS positions are getting scarce. more opportunities in DE.
But don’t DE positions require in-depth knowledge of Spark, Hadoop and all the Cloud pipelines?
I feel you. Unfortunately you just have to be 'the best' on that particular time/day. And with some DS roles you're going up against a LOT of people who might just be better that day. And then there's all the stuff outside of your control, like whether your interviewer is in a good mood going into your interview or if they already have someone else in mind before they even talk to you. If it's any consolation, you were able to be 'the best' for AT&T once so you can do it again, just gotta keep going
Yeah I agree. This field is overly competitive. Thanks for the motivation! Hopefully i can switch soon.
I feel you man, I’m kinda stuck in hopelessness now, deciding if to take up pod mock interview now.
I tried mock interviews with my friends. I am fully confident on onsites as well. But not sure what goes wrong.
I failed 4 on-site in the previous months. By now, I know that if I answer a single question incorrectly in 5-rounds, it is a rejection.
Yeah that’s the thing. They want a perfect candidate. The bar is too high 😬
Not sure I agree they want a perfect candidate. I think the bar is just one need to answer every single question correctly.
What’s your role? Happy to refer at Amazon (with caution ofcourse 😂)
Data Scientist. Amazon at least would be better for me in career growth lol
