I got an offer for Google in Poland (I am based in Europe), and rejected because I can not relocate now and my company pulled a decent counteroffer. Also the offer was a bit downleveling IMO (L3). And goes without saying that I like my job here a lot. Let's say in 6 months/1 year I want to reach out to Google and see if they still want me in, what can I expect? The interview feedback itself was "mixed" but after extra interviews I ended up getting the offer. TC 50k (Spain) YOE 4 Reminder those are countries with low COL in Europe, not Bay Area. Google offer was slightly more, like 53k. So you get the picture
No problem. Just be polite.
No problem at all In fact , expect to hear from them in a few months to ask you to reconsider . Once you pass the interviews, you are treated differently
Thanks for your answer:) It makes sense indeed. I rejected the initial offer in December and the recruiter tried to change my mind for 1 month. So it would make sense for them to follow up
If money is of importance, why not go for Zurich or at least Munich? And L3 with 4 yoe sucks but it's the standard for Google for people coming from no name European companies, especially if you barely passed. You can try for L4 in a year though.
Yeah I initially applied for Munich but no team match there, so the recruiter started looking in all Europe. Money is not that important it is just that being from a warm place it is difficult for me to move to Poland and get the same TC I have in Spain. Yeah, I think trying again in a year for L4 could be a good thing to do. This time I'll go better prepared for the interviews.
Good. Google no longer the best place to work. Work boring af. I’m a contractor and have been here for 4 months and already counting my way out
No offense my dude but why would you think that contractors get interesting work?
Everyone on my team does the same work.
Is this 53TC or just 53k base?
I have rejected offers from Google twice back in the days (one for swe and once for pm). It does not negatively impact your future chances at all.
Why would you decline twice? Seems like you just don’t want to work there. I know Amazon blacklists if you decline twice. Google >>> NIO IMO. If you like self driving tech, go to Waymo?
Why what? Why did I reject (becoz of lower than others comp in one case and in one case I didn’t find a good team match). These were long before the Blind era. Why it doesn’t negatively impact your future chances (becoz Google is a large for profit mega enterprise, not a lovelorn cougar with hate and frustration on her mind). I have been contacted by Google leadership recruiters on and off.
nobody wants to move from spain to poland, google has some pretty dumb recruiters in europe.
OP can I dm you ? I need to ask you few things about my offer.
