I was contacted by a recruiter from Tesla for a ML/AI role. They sent me this take home problem- which was actually really interesting. I passed all their test cases (there were 3) and even wrote some unit tests for my functions, docstrings, explanatory comments, etc. I got an email rejection a few days later, there was no real reason provided. Does anyone know how high the bar is? Or what exactly they want from such assignments? TC- 165k (2 YOE, SF)
All the leetcode haters, this is exactly why we must be happy most companies ask leetcode like algorithms questions. Look at all the time and effort wasted here instead of just an hour or two of phone interviews.
100%
Never thought of it that way, but yeah it makes sense. At least we know what's expected of us.
Did not meet time/space requirements or code was not passing some tests that were not provided
Yeah, now that I think about it, I definitely could have tested it with more corner cases- just to be sure.
Same experience. They simply do interviews for namesake
Not even any useful feedback...
What school you're from ?
Dodged a bullet there!
Listen to detective Pikachu, OP

Congrats, you just solved a problem for them for free
Bar is very high on those, mustve missed a lot of testing / validation

What happens when most of your team is Indian?
Sometimes you’ll do everything perfectly but still get rejected, perfectly normal in the industry. You’ll probably never find out the reason why either, move on my man.
