Was feeling pretty confident during my Amazon onsite (SDEII) in Seattle but was rejected. I was pushing the Google recruiter to hurry up with their on-site to line up both offers but now I'm not so sure that it would be a good idea since Amazon's hiring bar is (allegedly) much lower than Google's. Should I be honest with the Google recruiter and tell them I got rejected from Amazon and would like more time to prepare?
I'm in a similar boat and I'm saying nothing. Google took so long that they even forgot I was in the process with Amazon.
Yea, same here. Google reached out in June, and only now are scheduling the onsite (skipped phone screen).
I would 100% not tell them you need more time to prepare. If you really want to postpone, just say you have an unexpected scheduling conflict.
Google recruiting move like sloths in slow motion. You’ll be fine.
Depends on why you failed the Amazon on-site. If it was for coding then yeah I’d be concerned. If it was for vague koolaidey LP reasons then I don’t think Google will notice
No feedback 😒
Do not tell them unless they ask you about it
Don't say shit. You gain nothing by telling.
Don't say shit. You gain nothing by telling.
I like how you think
This is why you shouldn’t talk about other companies in the pipeline until they are verbal offers.
Don't say a thing. You gain nothing by telling.

Apologies if I wasn't clear in my OP, I'm not looking to cancel the google onsite, just postpone by a 1.0-1.5 months to help increase my chances. I agree about the "suck at dating" part, not very confidence inspiring... What would be a better excuse?
Just say you have some urgent priorities and would like to delay interview by 1.5 months.
