Rejecting a Google offer

I'm about to reject an offer from Google. I've read here that the offers can be valid for one year. How can I do that? Should I just ask the recruiter to keep the offer valid? Offer TC $520k

Not an answer to your question... but why? That is great TC (and level as well I’m assuming) for Google, given that they downlevel and lowball candidates

Google FudgMuppet Dec 11, 2019

OP likely has better TC and overall offer/work elsewhere. Google downslots hard.

Yes

If you’re seriously declining that, I’m also curious as to why. Being on blind long enough has made me a pessimist...people too often like to post things like this to get pats on the back and praise, sadly.

Mostly because of other better options.

What's the point of interviewing at google if you're gonna turn down a top-tier offer from them anyways? Why are you declining?

Facebook bushdid119 Dec 11, 2019

More offers = better TC? That’s the game?

Facebook alt_qq Dec 11, 2019

Mostly curious as to what they'd be picking over this tbh

That looks good offer. I rejected lowball offer a year back. But they never said 1 year valid. In the contract it says 5 day valid.

WTF. OP didn't even say the level.....

Capco dmodemd Dec 12, 2019

Said L6 up above in a response to someone else...

Walmart Malachi Dec 11, 2019

Maybe OP doesn't want to work for an evil company 🤷‍♂️

Google Mauv02 Dec 11, 2019

Given it appears they already work for Facebook, I am pretty sure you can rule that out.

Walmart Malachi Dec 11, 2019

Lol so true

Microsoft OgUa26 Dec 11, 2019

What level is the offer for?

Facebook llp6 OP Dec 11, 2019

L6

Microsoft OgUa26 Dec 11, 2019

Decent for L6. Are you hedging for other offers that’ll be much higher?

Hard for me to think of having an offer valid over a year from an operation stand point. If I hired someone else and you respond to the offer one year later. What am I suppose to do?

Salesforce awwe Dec 11, 2019

This is why Google does not hire for a team. Their hiring process is generic.

Indeed OhhhMan Dec 12, 2019

They will always have a need for solid engineers at any level.

No just give it to me

Recruiter mentioned it to me when I turned them down. His words: if the other company doesn’t match your expectations, feel free to shoot me an email. The offer is on the table for another year. I have not followed up (yet), so not sure how valid/true this is.

Facebook llp6 OP Dec 11, 2019

What happens if they won't suggest it?
