I was recently rejected for a specific analytics role after on-site with the hiring manager. In the email, the recruiter mentioned that they think I could be a ‘great fit’ in the future and to reach out to them directly with positions I would be interested in / they would share info with the hiring team. Is this a standard rejection or could I reasonably expect them to help fast-track future applications? Would it be any better than applying with a referral (how I got the original interview)? Idk. I got that one but they are very quick to get back to me after my cooloff period. That said, I haven't reapplied yet because FAANGs don't really appeal to me (Google doesn't like WFH, and doesn't have stock refreshes, the others don't have great WLB if you end up on a bad team. Also all of them have 5+ hours of leetcode interviews which just feels like hazing to me). Not sure about being "fast tracked" but recruiters should be reaching out to you pretty regularly from now on.
It’s a standard rejection but realize you have a contact at google now (the recruiter). They will know how you did and if you did well they will get you lined up to be screened again quickly, so it is a fast track in a way.
A good recruiter is worth their weight in gold. I don’t think they would say you would be a great fit if you bombed at your interviews. Most likely you were close.
Sorry for being off topic. Does Google send rejection vial email or calls?
