I have been trying really hard for the past 5 months for internship. Went to few final rounds got rejected. Recently, Gave my best for intuit internship interviews. But now, I got a call from Intuit recruiter saying I have passed all their rounds, got very good feedback from both coding and behavioral interviews but still unfortunately they have to go with another candidate and asked me to apply again for full time before graduation and they will sure consider me that time. I mean how is it possible, not getting selected even after clearing all the interviews. I literally lost all the hope I have. Sure you may say there are tons of other opportunities or intuit isn't a good company better not join. But, if you are recruiter. Please never do this to anyone. This is very painful after all the hard work one goes through. Edit: Thanks for all the support guys...I feel little better now as there is nothing I can do about it and only move forward by embracing my pain.
You'll hate me for saying this, but it's all a matter of luck. Just prepare well so you're able to take the opportunity when you get it. Don't take interviewing so seriously, it's a crapshoot. Also, there are a lot of lower prestige companies where you can grow technically and have a relaxed life making 40-50% TC as FAAMG.
I feel you bro, keep trying... you are not alone , never give up
Networking helps
Try to apply for smaller companies, pay will be less but you can build up experience and keep interviewing
How so besides initial referral? This is a question not opposition
From what I observed people usually don’t do referrals for internships atleast not at the scale for full time roles. Keep sending emails to recruiters or employees of companies that you know provide internships. It’s hard but hopefully something works out. Best place to look for internships are in the place that you are located in. Look for small/medium sized companies that have been there for a few years. Startups usually don’t do internships that much
Keep doing efforts. Yesterday I got rejected after two weeks of long wait. I crushed the interviews. Even even the interviewer was like, you did good you should be proud of yourself, I got to learn things I didn't know. Second interview was an absolute blast, I answered everything so we'll about ml and that interviewer openly said that your solutions are what we implemented in real time.
you still got rejected? can you think of any reason why?
Yea, I have speculated a lot. One of which is they got someone who is a us citizen. Second is, they knew about my offers last year so they would have got someone who agreed to join in something less, they could have gotten someone very experienced but still willing to join (it was a researcher position) , or they just didn't like me saying I give myself 5 in sql and 4 in Java since it's been 6 years I didn't use them, etc
Now I'm leaving ml aside just for the sake of interview prep and preparing algos and ds just to interview big4. We need to just keep it intact and push hard.
It feels bad though, it keeps hurting. But just drink it dude and keep working. All the best!
It’s hard to get your foot in the door. The fact you made it this far shows you are close. Keep up your enthusiasm, stay positive - think of all the interesting conversations you’ll have with people over interviews - and put a smile on your face when you start the interviews. Good luck and you’ll get there!!
I failed phone screens for google and Microsoft and onsites with uber and Facebook. You are very much still in the game. Keep practicing and researching what to practice. It’s nice to have internships but you ultimately want a ft anyhow
Welcome to the real world... Don't stress about it. Life is hard be willing to keep trying until you succeed. Maybe you'll fail many more interviews, or get an offer in the next one. But, you need to be patient, and spend your time wisely. Being depressed for a long time about it isn't going to help you.
When student loans are piling up, it's hard to be patient.
What's your choice then? Panic, go into depression and ruin your life? The only positive thing you can do is keep improving your skills, work in interviewing skills until you find a job.
