Thinking about moving to Denver//boulder. Want to live closer to nature, live in a place that doesn't only revolves around tech and not be around 25yo techbros that think they are the shit because they got an offer from Google. How is dating? How is compensation compared to the bay? Difficulty to meet new people and friends ? How is boulder vs Denver vs other smaller villages in the mountains? (Nederland, golden, ..) Thanks! current TC: 160k in a startup
Seattle is the best for outdoors: ski/hikes are under 1 hr drive away, or 30-40 mins if you live on the Eastside. Many employers, hot tech market, same comp as in the Bay, but no state tax and cheaper housing give you a 30% TC bump compared to BA.
Seattle still has too many 25 year old tech bros that think they’re the shit because they work for amazon, and I even know too many 30 year olds that think sharing TC == flirting. I think Denver is still better.
Denver has 300 days of sunshine per year and outdoor activities that dwarf anything Seattle has. What good is hiking in Seattle when it rainy and is nasty overcast most of the year. And world class ski resorts in Denver are just over an hour away. Nothing in Seattle can touch it. Seattle just has a better job market.
Golden and Nederland are great. Hiking, skiing, mountain biking better than Seattle. Avoid living in Denver, but it’s any easy drive from anywhere in front range. The girls are georgeous and friendly. I lived the for 40 years, I’m now in Seattle.
This area is filled with ad tech companies each of which think they are going to change the world. I would think twice before moving here
Boulder is filled with 21 year old tech bros and Denver isn’t much better.

USC Cancels Valedictorian’s Speech. Justified?
The area is fantastic. Best kept secret in the US. People are also cooler than Bay Area and Seattle. More down to earth. Outdoors is amazing. I prefer Boulder the best, or central Denver neighborhoods like Cherry Creek.
