My wife and I are moving to Santa Clara in December. She's working for LinkedIn (Sunnyvale), and I will be joining Apple (Cupertino). We just started browsing for rentals on Zillow and came across the Irvine communities - Hamptons and Monticello. Wondering if anyone has reviews for these, couldn't find a ton online. Other apartment or location suggestions are welcome too! We're looking for something close to work, or at least on the shuttle routes. Blind tax: her TC: 300k, 3 YOE, my TC: 350k, 5 YOE #sunnyvale #cupertino
Thanks will do!
I suggest getting a home/townhouse to rent for cheap, save money for downpayment of your home. These fancy apt charges a lot.
Hamptons is literally next door to apple and monticello is just a couple of blocks away. Monticello is newer and fancier compared to hamptons(hence more expensive). It has orange theory, food places and some super markets in its block. Looks like you guys have the money, so go for monticello. You can run/bike to apple from monticello and the train station is right next to monticello. I doubt there's a stop near LinkedIn though. You're better of just driving or using scoop to get there. About 20-30 mins in rush hour traffic. (I live in the hamptons ;))
But you should definitely buy a house before your first lease ends and save money on rent.
How much do Hamptons charge for utilities? Trying to get an idea before we get there. We were thinking of buying a house, but wanted to wait until we had a good idea of the neighborhoods
Try Prometheus properties. I have lived in both Irvine and Prometheus properties and I find the latter better in terms of service , rents and flexibility. Try 550 Moreland - they have a shuttle stop right in front of their building
Thanks will do!
congrats and you guys have some nice tc for your yoe!
Rent anywhere. You need to buy before your lease is up, you have the TC to afford a place.
Yeah that's what we're thinking, just don't want to put money down right away
Might be a tad out of the way but I'd recommend Los Gatos or Campbell. More going on, better food, beautiful areas.
I'll check those
duh!! what is ur budget ? u get apts at all kinds of prices here. Irvine communities r good but u get stuck with them due to luxury factor. i don't like their addendums, streets blocked out with fire hydrants, red or white color so that u pay for garage parking fees, utility bills v hi, yearly rent increases.
What kind of addendum?
they r probably standard now since i started seeing them other places. bedbug addendum - they claim the unit is completely free of bedbugs and any found will be because of us. then abt roommates - that u cannot add and remove as u please. they were upfront with moveout prices but they were quite high at that time. My suggestion is that wen u apply or if u just go for a showing, ask a copy of the lease and see if its something u r ok with. it will be one sided (theirs) and upto u what u want to do but atleast u ll know.
Both are good, you should do fine. Try Santa Clara square too (belongs to Irvine as well).
Avoid Santa Clara Square! It was built on a Superfund site ☣️☠️
In general, be careful around Santa Clara / Sunnyvale. That’s where all the old school semi companies fabricated chips and left toxic waste behind.
