Looking for suggestions on rental properties near Amazon Seattle. I'm looking to keep my budget under $2k. Office is in downtown so should I completely eliminate Bellevue, Redmond and Kirkland as potential options? How good/reliable are public transportation options from these areas ? TC 200K
Do you have any space/br restrictions? 2k somewhere in downtown seattle/nearby neighborhoods is doable for a 1br. Public transit from those areas should be sufficient if not walkable. Bellevue and other farther areas will be more difficult to do on transit unless you're near a light rail stop.
I'm looking for a 1br . Google maps says 50 mins of public transportation time from Bellevue during peak hours which seems decent but I'm not sure how reliable. But seems like I'm better off looking at Seattle if rent costs are the similar.
Downtown Bellevue has a good connectivity to Seattle plus Redmond Overlake Area also have straight express bus to Seattle. Mind you downtown Bellevue is slightly more expensive than Seattle but you get more space.
For the same rent for a 1 br I'd prefer Seattle since I could walk to work. But space might be an issue like you said
Kirkland and Redmond are not dependable by transit. They just have one bus for themselves with the best peak time frequency of 10 mins- which is pretty bad given the demand for these places. Plus bus to Redmond is always late these days due to the light rail construction. Bellevue fares better with a peak time frequency of 5 min plus Amazon offers shuttles every 15 mins. You could live in downtown Bellevue and commute to downtown Seattle but remember Bellevue is not cheap. At $2k you'll probably get a studio is a high rise.
That eliminates at least both Redmond and Kirkland. I'll keep looking for something decent in Seattle but sounds like I'll end up with a much smaller place there for my budget. It'll be a toss between Bellevue and Seattle. Thanks for your input.
Public transportation in Seattle is really good. I believe you can find easily with that budget
