Reputation of "non-traditional" companies on your resume

What are all your thoughts on people who had legit roles in weed/porn/etc techcompanies on their resumes? What other industries would raise red flags just because of the company? Political? Palantir?

This wouldn't raise red flags. It would just make most curious. EDIT Palantir could be though, yeah

An acting role at pornhub might throw doubt on your SWE credentials

SRE role at pornhub is probably more challenging than most companies.. They handle more traffic than most traditional companies

uber is the only one would raise a flag with me. shit ass company

Amazon NeedfulšŸ’Æ&šŸ”™ Feb 2, 2019

if I saw a resume with a porn company on it i would think thatā€™s cool. HR people are boring and mostly women or repressed closeted gays though so the resume would probably never get to me. Weed company - Iā€™d assume you smoke a lot of pot and wouldnā€™t be able to keep up intellectually. Red flag and would not proceed.

Could register as a Uber/lyft driver and say you worked at Uber. :-) really troll the interviewer after that explaining logistics and vehicle mechanics.

What would you actually think of someone who worked at Palantir?? Currently have an offer and worried about this

Doesn't believe in a right to privacy or is willing to compromise that belief. Either way a potential liability to any company in an age where data privacy is a major PR point. That doesn't necessarily mean they'd be the wrong hire, but would definitely watch closely how they describe their role and how they handle discretion
