Is it bad to ask to reschedule onsite interviews to later date? I have onsite in less than 2 weeks and I feel unprepared. Has anyone done that for fb/amazon? Do you have to pay flight/hotel rebook fee etc yourself?
You will probably always feel unprepared, just go for it. 2 weeks is more than enough to brush up LeetCoding and system design.
Lol. That’s if you knew those topics well from prior education in computer science. “Brushing up” is the wrong phrase for people like me who majored in a subject other than CS in college.
How far would you like to push it back? If it's like two weeks, I think luck plays bigger role than what you can prepare in that time. If two months, maybe, but I can't imagine recruiters being happy about this.
I rescheduled an onsite the day of due to lack of sleep, and got an offer...
That's interesting, was that at Microsoft? I always thought this would be taken as a sign of not being professional, leading to automatic failure.
Google. An engineer once told me it was fine, in fact encouraged to do that. Recruiters want you to do well. Sometimes you won’t get any sleep, it happens, they’ll hide it from your interviewers, and reschedule.
Did you reschedule your interview eventually? How did it go?
No it’s not bad at all. Just do it sooner. They should redo the bookings but ymmv.
