Leaving aside few companies like Uber, Airbnb, and FAANG, most companies don’t even know the ‘M’ of machine learning. A lot of them speak a lot of BS on how they are working on ML. It is all BS. Speaking from interviewing experience.
Change location to Seattle/Bellevue and that will be great

My husband gets a base of $170K with 4 years experience and prior to that PhD. You probably should ask for more. He is in CV & ML space as well
What company? His TC? Amazon has a cap on base salary.
Is that Sunnyvale Moffett park location? Microsoft and Comcast nearby would both offer same TC for much better WLB. People with PhD+3 years make slightly more at Comcast
Palo Alto. Don’t want to work at Comcast unless it becomes absolutely necessary. Talked with a recruiter there when I was desperately looking, TC wasn’t gr8 for senior level.
I want to say that I interviewed at Splunk P4 which is overlapping with L5 and L6 of Amazon. They were offering 265k. The hiring manager said I rocked the interview but they can’t match my expectations of offer close to 300k.
