Respect privacy @Google I/O 19

What do you good think? Why Google kept saying, "we respect users privacy" over and over again at io19? Also felt that they negated that bit by saying, "we will give each of you your own personalized experience". I know Google can but on what basis? I mean are they not going to make money based off of ads? Does Google sell user info?

Google doesn't sell user data, and is actually very careful with responsible storage, access, and usage policy to prevent the kinds of issues we've seen with FB lately

“We respect privacy” == “we collect your data, we just don’t share it with others” They aren’t stopping the collection in the first place, it is fundamental to their business model and why they oppose privacy laws.
