Just quit job and due to coronavirus everything has been remote. My "manager" needs my laptop and stuff back obviously and before leaving I sent them all information they needed to send the shipping label. Nothing received in the mail weeks later and manager is texting me to go to fedex and return it. What exactly is the process for this? I don't feel like wasting time and energy returning shit they need to have handled on their side in the first place. TC-190k
You are in equifax with TC 190k. What position where you in?
The employer should provide the shipping lable to return back the equipment. In case they don't and your manager is being nasty then I would recommend you ship them at your own cost. Get the mailing address from your manager as a CYA. And, save the shipping receipt.
So they just emailed me the label but are saying they cant send a box. Gonna have to go in person to a fedex and ship it with an emailed shipping label
Just ship it without a box. Attach the label to the laptop directly and drop it off at FedEx. It’ll be a good lesson for your manager
At old job we had a lot of remote workers and always sent them to fedex with an account # to charge to. FedEx would properly box and ship everything. Not sure what the issue is. Do you have a laptop box to safely return it or u gonna toss it in an old amazon box with some bubble wrap?
Problem is i dont have a box so i asked for one. Going to have to end up going to fedex in person since they just emailed a shipping label
If your manager is being an asshat, reach out to someone in HR to confirm the process. Do it in email so there’s always a paper trail, but the first post was right, ultimately you agreed to return everything, it’s just generally in the company’s best interest to make that easier.
I asked him to confirm with hr what the process is and he responds with “you need to give me the laptop”. Im like i want to but how and he ends up emailing a shipping label and tells me to go to fedex in person because HR cant send a box
I would stop talking to him and connect with HR directly for anything else moving forward. Otherwise, do whatever you need to to get this utter dirtbag out of your life ASAP. I’m so petty, I’d slap that label on the device itself and drop it in a drop off bin with the charger taped around it.
Use the FedEx acct number that your employer gave you and then ship your equipment.
tell him to send a box with shipping and then block him. If he does not send a box you owe him nothing. This is not your problem. He is not going to sue you for $600.
But there is also IP on that laptop. They can claim hundreds of thousands, not just 600.
He emailed a shipping label but says cant send a box and to go to fedex
Ship it at your own cost and just get them out of your life. Ship it with a tracking number and take a picture of the items you’re putting in the box to protect yourself. Your employee paperwork almost certainly says you will take action to return equipment. Send them the tracking number and ignore any further requests from them.
Let them send you a returning shipping label
drop it (as in throw it) in front of the office door?

Your contract may state that you have to return those. If so, they can sue you for failure to comply. Try asking them to send you a copy of the return label digitally, so you can print it from your end.
After i print is it normal to have to drive to a fedex and have everything boxed up there?
Whether it's normal doesn't matter, unless it's stated in the contract that a box and pickup would be provided. What matter is you have to return it. For all I know without reading your contract, they didn't even have to provide you the shipping label.
