I spoke with him personally for 5-10 mins in Chennai when I turned down the offer from Amazon. A director of eng doesn’t have to speak to a candidate about joining Amazon but he still did. Sounded like a humble dude.
Amazon Directors routinely speak to candidates after an offer has been rolled out. Even to SDE 1s. It's part of what's called closing the offer.
@Bozos that's definitely not true, depends on the org and director.
