You can live and work in the US with your family for several years. Pay taxes. Buy a house. Live.
But it can change in any minute for any reason.
Company goes bankrupt? Scramble to find a new job (and hope paperwork for new visa is processed quickly) or leave .
Want to change jobs? You are at the mercy of USCIS.
Want to start a company? Sorry, no.
A side businesses? Write a book and earn royalties? Nope. And nope.
You die? Your family suddenly has to leave.
Being on a non-immigrant visa restricts you and your family in so many ways that it is not simple to enumerate.
If I'm paying taxes at least give me *some* security.
For a single person, I agree it won't matter. For a family, it's not like you can leave the country the next day.
