European citizen considering an internal transfer to US from Europe. However, the fact that only my base would get adjusted really turns me off as my RSUs are 🥜 So at first I never considered this as highly likely, but recently I have the idea of moving to a lower cost area such as Atlanta. In that case, I would still have a comparable salary in the US to those in cities like this. When I have my GC, I could move to a more fun city with better pay. Do you think this is a good idea? If not, please share your reasons down below. #google #microsoft #amazon #facebook Tc:110k eur (90+20)
Try to move on H1B. L1 is a visa fully dependent on employer’s mercy. If you get fired you you’ll be deported. Generally, GC process nowadays takes easily up to 2 years to the EAD stage (not GC) where you’ll be independent and can change the employer, if you aren’t from a backlog nation.
What visa will you have?
I’m in Europe, but I wanted to add something. The other possibility is to get education in the USA, if you get a masters is 1/2 yrs out of work. So better get paid and maybe save less the first 2 yrs.
Sorry don’t get what you mean by this. What’s 1/2?
To get a master you need one or two years out of work.
