Accidentally typed .01 as top instead of 1.00. Got the notification on my phone "your Uber eats driver has thanked you for the tip!" Seems they appreciated .01 so i will keep tipping .01

  • You tip $1? I feel like that’s more insulting than no tip

Tell us you're a cheapskate without telling us you're a cheapskate.

Presuming you, @Psynaptic, do diligently record and squirrel away your tipping money and donate it to those causes. (Which I believe are great and useful causes.) How does that help break the stupid system that’s in place that literally puts food on the ride share provider and waitstaff’s tables? It would be more understandable, to me, if you were donating to some sort of cause that was fighting for a viable living wage. But the causes you mentioned, while great, aren’t going to help break the broken system and your idealism is affecting people who aren’t going to benefit from the causes you donate to.

I don't squirrel away the amounts. I just volunteer and donate to the causes I believe in and my estimate is that my donations are larger than tip amounts by quite a bit, given I don't order food or eat out that often.

It helps break the system because I lower the mean payment waiters and delivery people receive, and if enough people do that, they'll start leaving these jobs, and the apps/restaurants will have to up the wages to keep them. The difference my tips make is never going to be food on their table. It'll be the difference between comfortable and uncomfortable wages. Don't exaggerate, starving to death is a negligible % of US deaths. Virtually unheard of for someone to die this way, even the homeless in this nation are more often overweight than underweight.

It will help the broken system because the broken system is changeable. I know because it has changed in other nations. By what reason do you feel economic laws do not apply to the tipping culture, and it has special immunity?

the amount driver can make from a trip (including tip) is broadcast to all drivers. if no tip then no one is gonna bother picking it up unless nothing to do

Why tip at all? They have salaries. Why do we need to fill up for the cheap acts of a giant corporate?

Seriously fuck you. All of you chase TC and act all high and noble as if you’re on a mission to change the tipping culture and making a statement, when in reality, you are cheap MFs. If you make over $200k and you still tip like this, you can, but fuck you

I bet you’re those people on LinkedIn who exaggerate things and put CEO on resume for school projects. No, I just tip like $3 - $6 because I live in nyc and everything is walkable in 15min. But sure, I also get a loan just so I can tip them and average out your cut
