Have two offers. Same comp. 290K. L2 Eng @ robinhood L5 Eng @ square Both good teams. Want to optimize for an enjoyable day to day life as well as financial upside from equity. What should I choose? Current TC - 270K
Can you share your reasoning as well?
Hmm... both are fintech companies. Are you in the money team at Uber?
Nope. Just want to try out fintech
If youre optimizing for enjoyable day to day, isn’t the answer whether you live in south bay or sf?
I can move. So let’s not account for commute
Which company do you see thriving in the next few years? I personally would go with Square but it's up to you. Is there any culture that you like better?
Culture / people seem nice in both places. WLB seems a bit better at Square. I think Square should do pretty well. RH will either do very well or not do well at all. High risk. High reward I guess.
Yeah from what I can tell Robinhood is a lot smaller than Square which is a mid sized public company now. If you want more stability, Square is probably the place to go
Which one has less pager duty than Uber?
Can’t really tell before joining.
Any more thoughts ? Anyone ?
I’d choose Robinhood because I like stocks and finance. There’s probably still a lot of opportunity to work on greenfield projects. Everything they come out with is basically a reimplementation of what the finance industry already has, and there’s still plenty of stuff they can reimplement.
You want crazy growth or iterate on Existing shit? If former, Robinhood. Simple.
Also prob get faster promo at Robinhood
What level are you at Uber?
L4. But pretty close to L5 promo.
L2 at Robinhood is probably equivalent to L4 elsewhere, judging by the salary. Do they give options or RSUs?
