Hello

I am expecting an offer from Roblox for Sr software engineer role. I wanted to know if anyone has inputs about the work there, compensation to expect, anything to be aware of.

Yoe : 8
Current TC: 280k

Roblox offer
Base pay: 215k
Options: 64k/ 4 years at strike price of 5$

    I got sr engineer offer from them at late 2018, base 180k, 35k options/4yrs, 10k relocation, no signon no annual bonus. Didn't raise one penny after 1 month negotiation. So I rejected them and joined G.

      Thanks for the input. The recruiter mentioned that they don't want to loose the right candidate because of money of all the things and they pay very competitive to Google or Facebook. I was shocked to hear that. I will hopefully get to know soon.

      Hmmm recruiter would say anything to make you feel good, but the offer will tell the truth. By the way, the strike price of options at that time was $9 and the evaluation was 20 per stock, so even they go public eventually, you don't get rich because of the options.

    Public market doesn’t like game companies, especially mobile focused game companies. So private valuation is unlikely to be reflective of their actual value in liquidity.

      I have similar thoughts. Gaming companies are known for making their devs work on crunch. It's understood that Roblox is a gaming platform and not a game developer, but reputations are hard to change.
