Considering the increasing competition from Amazon, Apple and other major TV manufacturers (Sony, LG, Samsung), will Roku continue to have a user growth? Where do you see Roku in next 5 years?
They have a huge user base already. So, even if they would eventually go down, it will be a slow death. So, I would see Roku relevant atleast for 5 more years. Also, not all of the companies you mentioned are competitors.
Thanks for your response. Regarding competition, Apple has Apple TV, Amazon has Fire TV, TV manufacturers are coming up with their own version of Android TV. Only Disney is building a streaming service. Edited the post.
Apple TV share is so low compared to Roku right now, and they are not doing enough to push it. The new streaming service is going to be on Roku and fire TV as well. It kind of feels like Apple gave up on Apple TV. Fire TV is a big challenge for Roku. Android TV still has a lot of catch up to do.
Roku is the best OS for streaming. Hands down. I am hoping someone would buy them out.... Apple / Amazon / Google.
Bought by Google/Facebook/Walmart
Roku's hardware won't see much growth. And the ad-supported streaming channel will be challenged. As an OS, it's being used by a lot of low end TV manufacturers. So maybe that's enough for survival but I am not sure about growth.
There are high chances that the high end TV manufacturers would pair up with Roku soon.
