Hi folks. I'm about to do the yearly $5.5K backdoor Roth and wanted to ask about fund selection. I already own Vanguard Total Market Index in my brokerage account. It's a very tax-efficient fund, and since Roth has tax advantages I wanted to leverage that by placing less tax-efficients funds there. Options are: - Bonds: I don't have much exposure to bonds since I'm young and not considering to buy in a rising rate environment. - REIT: this is what I was leaning on since it's a good diversifier. What do you think? - Stock indexes: I can simply buy sp500 or specialty etfs, but then I feel like I wouldn't be taking full advantage of Roth's tax benefits. I will hold these investments for 10+ years. What are your suggestions, how did you allocate your capital? I have some REITs, very small amount of bonds, but mostly stock index funds there as well
I bought with my roth $ twitter from 17 all the way up to ~40 before jumping ship. Since then I gave up about a quarter of my gains so im all cash now.😉
