HR cold called as some other company!!

I just stumbled upon a slack thread in the hr channel which mentioned that they did a cold calling to me before I joined. They pretended to be some other company and asked for scheduling interviews. All of my responses are there in that thread.
WTH!
Is this a common practice across the industry or the HR over here getting creepy?

Make sure to take screenshots and discuss with a lawyer. This is not common practice and extremely unethical.
