Hi y’all, would appreciate any advice! I’m already a product manager and will probably continue down this career path and hope to one day be an executive. I want to get a part time MBA at a top tier school, but I was wondering if I should aim for a regular MBA or an executive MBA? Any thoughts on the two?

  • None of them are worth unless you go for a full time MBA at a top tier college

Do I need to attain physical classes? Or is it online?

It depends on how senior you are at your company and what you want to get out of the MBA. To some extent it depends on your age too. I’d recommend that you refer to the class profiles and choose the one that matches your needs. Both part time MBA and executive MBA majority students are doing the MBA for career progression. Regular MBA students are majorly career switchers and you’d learn a lot less given that the student body has less work experience.

Makes sense yeah I definitely gotta do my research. I just fear with night classes that people wouldn’t be willing to network as much.

Networking is usually very limited in part time or exec MBA since folks manage a full time job, the 3 hour course which ends late in the night and then there’s the job in the morning. Also, most are career progressors so they don’t have to network as much as a FT student who’s looking for an internship or FT job either in the same or other industry.

And, if you do the executive program, have your employer pay for it

Its all MBA degree, in the end and no one asks if it was fulltime or part time. In fact, it's a plus, when you state that you hustled your current duties , along with a school workload
