I have been looking for a SDET role for the last 2 months. I have job offers from Amazon, Salesforce, Marqeta and 2 other startups. All HMs who intervieved me were Indians, most of the team (or the whole team) were too. I had a very negative experience in the past with an Indian manager and I don’t want to be the only white person of the team. Can anyone recommend me a company I should apply for? I’m getting really tired of the interviewing process. SDET, SF Bay Area, loe 6, TC 215
Can’t blame you. Never heard of someone demanding to work with only indians.
Well... I've seen management chains of Indian managers and teams that didn't look like a coincidence...
SF startups are very diverse compared to most of south bay.
LendingClub, Walmart Labs
LinkedIn, Airbnb, bytedance if you're looking to diversify Indians with Chinese :p In seriousness it's usually non-FAANG or Google where I've seen a lot of non-Indians.
Federal government or defense contractors
This is how it is in the Bay Area. Welcome to the club. You can try companies like J&J, Airbnb, Boeing, Raytheon or Lockheed Martin. They are usually much more diverse since they dont hire people on work visas
Huh, indeed. Thanks for the advice!
Look for companies outside Bay Area or Seattle. Isn't it possible to get into a different team in Amazon or Salesforce once you clear an interview?
It is. The offer is for Amazon Music, there is a team matching process. 3 managers, all Indian. Sad lol. I can’t really move out of this area, my spouse doesn’t want to change jobs.
indians are minorities. diverse enough
Indians are not minority in tech... People on blind don't seem to understand what "diverse" or *minority* means.. But I would agree Indians are a minority in oil and gas companies, or the NBA but not tech, please..
you seems dont understand what humor means
