Hi all,

I referred a candidate for a position in my former start-up. After interviews, my friend got hired. The CEO said I was awarded for a referral bonus. Unfortunately I decided to take a new adventure and left the company a couple of weeks later. My candidate started working there after my departure. After completion of his 3-month in the company,, I sent an email to the CEO about my referral bonus.

He replied that the company cannot pay me the leftover bonus because I am not a current employee right now.

Does this make sense? Any ideas?

I referred someone, he was hired, I was awarded the referral bonus while working at the company, he has been working in the company for more than 3 months. It doesn't make sense not paying my bonus just because I don't work for them.
