Last week met a coworker I had interviewed and hired about 2 years ago. They are on a much junior level, less education and half my TC. I have been waiting for more than 10 years now in GC backlog. They just received their Green Card (not indian). I hope #S386 passes and there is a level playing field. No one should jump the line. #h1b #perm
I agree - but after posting in blind, we go back to work and never do anything about this. What tangible steps can we take to ensure this approves?
Check out this post! "How do Indian consulting companies get away with openly violating EEOC laws? (Work Visa)" https://us.teamblind.com/s/OEmCOHNG
Who is stopping ICE to put criminals behind bars or deport them? What’s the fault of people who played by the rules?
This argument about how Indian consulting companies are abusing laws is getting very old now. Every time someone posts about s386 this has to come up. I agree with OP. The crimes of some should not impact all. The government here as the ability to figure out who the violators are.
When the broken system benefits you, nobody complains. Fruit of the poisonous tree my friend.
I just have one question for you. Would you fight for this law after getting your GC? How many of them fight for this after getting a GC or US Citizenship. There lies the answer. Once it gets cleared for them, they forget about these laws. USA is a capitalist country, they give a damn whether you are in line with this law or not. This law could/will change only when there is an external pressure - when there are countries who outsource Indians more than America; and when America really thinks that it would be a huge issue if Indians leave for other countries- if there is a statistics somewhere that shows this. Think about it. We talk about it, but we all do the office work. If not, we have to leave the country. For the companies it is cheap and smart labor. All the companies will talk about H1B being a boon, and outward they would talk about the GC process. But all of them want H1B s and not GC.
When black people were stigmatized and enslaved and were fighting for their rights... did you ask them “will you still fight if you were white?” What sort of ridiculous question is this? PS: any decent person who saw there was injustice fought for equality... irrespective of the skin color... so please don’t make assumptions and try the divide and rule method. We learnt from history.
Op is saying gc holders forget about their past and other people's struggles. After all, it's the citizens who can change the laws.
Show me one “fraud” from India who is not an actual engineer? On the other hand when a guy from literally any other nationality says “I have been doing drugs all my life, I dropped out of high school but now I did a boot camp and joined an IT company... people are all supportive and encouraging. Why this double standard?
Who said anything about this? You have a chip on your shoulder.
Look at the other comments in this thread, @lolrip
I don’t even know what problem you guys have with Indians... the Indians here in the states are not into crime or drugs, pay the highest taxes and are good for the economy Is it the accent? A lot of us don’t even have that... (and even if we did, are you so shallow that it annoys you?). What exactly ticks you off?
Are you afraid of the competition? So your answer is get people who won’t take our jobs, but who hate this country and can drop bombs 💣, who will mug you instead? Is that what you really want?
I guess you were answering Facebook.
It’s not about the line though. Even for China, this problem is not that bad. Then why is it so much worse for Indian? The H1B fraud is going to continue. So even if this bill gets passed, even more will try to cheat the system. You guys will end up in the same place again in 5 years where the backlog is filled again. Fix the H1B first then this green card.
@🐖 - I read that *some* Chinese have committed murders. Hence, I conclude *all* Chinese are murderous beasts who should not be allowed in to the country. Fix the murderous nature of the murdererous ones first, then entry to the US.
Unless RoW feels the taste of being stuck in the line forever, I don’t think they will have a reason to fight back for fixing the broken system and the visa abuses. S386 seems just that trigger which gets everybody into that thinking. That’s how I see it.
I think at the very least Indian people waiting for GC should be given an EAD with 10 years of validity. We are approved to get a green card so why not just give us the EAD.
