The quality of model 3 has definitely been logarithmic. Early era builds are going to have character flaws, and noises. They feel like a 20k car with 30k battery. If you buy brand new though, the current models are a vastly different pedigree and the sum of improvements rolled in to every system on the order of days to weeks across the last 4 years. There will always be outliers, but the reputation of QA issues is an artifact of very old tear downs and probably some competitor slander trying to drive a narrative until they have their own mass produced EV solutions in the market.

Hah. Was on blind, so timing is great. The 20k car with 30k battery Is spot on. I still believe people have to spend that extra 9K to get the mid level over the base vehicle. The improvement over the base model is worth more than 9K imo. Either way well past op’s budget.

  • Check out Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5. If you want a cheap smaller SUV for brand new, those cost around 30k +/- 5k. I got one recently, and it gets me from point A to point B with no problem. Good luck!!

What do you want from the vehicle? Features? Size? Comfort vs. driving dynamics? Do looks matter?

    • Looks matter. Gas mostly (hybrid is ok). Need drivers assistance package all of it. Suv mid. Mostly safety, fuel efficient, and looks.

Mazda makes some pretty great cars. Looks are an opinion. I happen to like them. Look at the 3 sedan or hatch, or cx5 crossover.

Assuming you’re not an enthusiast, buy a gas efficient Subaru or any Japanese car (high reliability.)
