Will Bay area housing prices ever stabilize or drop? It's so effing crazy out there.

Houses is Dublin that were 1.5M eight months ago now have redfin estimates of 2.25M.. That's a freak 50% increase in 8 months.. WTF..

They say wait for the dip but there doesn't seem to be a dip in sight.

Is a market correction imminent?

As long as people desperately wait for the dip there wouldn't be a dip

    • This is an amazing point. There was a poll on Blind that asked renters what their house hunting status is. Only a small portion were actively looking. Others were waiting. That means demand will be there. Even the current high demand is a small portion of likely buyers.

I feel bad for mainly folks who have been trying to buy but got outbid for last 8 months. Those just entering market now won’t feel the pinch as much as they have not seen their potential loss of not buying. But it hurts a lot more knowing you could have had a home 8 months back for 20% lower if you had just bid $20k more back then.

that means u have to act now based on how ur future self will behave. that means u can no longer trust urself ! there is something called sticking to ur guns, but sadly with homes u cannto do that.

    • In any negotiation you can gain if you have leverage. Buyers don’t have leverage in housing market! Maybe they will few years from now? Who knows?

Growth will obviously slow at some point but we've all been waiting decades for a drop. If it didn't happen during the housing recession it's hard to imagine what would cause it to drop other than say repealing of prop13 which won't ever happen

Lots of renters woke up from their slumber. COVID woke them up and now they can’t goto sleep due to FOMO. I’m one of them. Trivalley has been on fire real estate wise

Tech hiring has been crazy with companies increasing pay by 50-100%. What do you think is going to happen when people are making so much more money nowadays?

You can't time the market. Buy what you can afford when you can. Time in the market > timing the market
