Hi all,
Got an offer for a Quant Researcher where it doubles my current TC. However, I’m inclined to decline the offer.
I’m an ambitious hardworking person and want to start my own business (in 1-2 years from now) and build products. For me, FIRE is a key factor for which Quant Researcher seems to a quick way. However, I feel tech has the following pros:
- You can build transferable skills, e.g., leadership skills
- Sky is the limit: If you build a semi-successful company you can cash out more than Quant and get a top position paying more than 1-2M (that seems to be the top for Quant).
- Work is more interesting
- WLB is much better (You can survive with 2hr/day if you like and work on your side projects)
I believe 2X TC is a great boost but does not upgrade my quality of life (in long run)
Please let me know what you think.
TC: 490
