Working from Canada half of the year
I am a Canadian citizen with a US green card. For family reasons, I need to work from Canada for 6 months of the year. Basically I want to work in the US for 6 months and from Canada for 6 months. I know that the US-Canada tax treaty requires the employer to switch to the Canadian payroll if I am present in Canada for more than 183 days. But I’ll be back in the US on the 180th day in order to avoid tax implications.
However, my current employer, Qualcomm, has a max of 90 days of working remotely from another country. That is not in line with the US-Canada tax treaty that allows up to 183 days. If more than 90 days, the HR case has to go to a committee that handles exceptions.
If this committee does not approve it, I may need to get a new job with a US employer who allows working remotely more than 90 days.
I am in hardware but I don’t need to work in a lab that requires physical presence. Which companies allow working from an international location (specifically Canada) more than 90 days?
For example, does Facebook allow this?

My other problem is I am based in the East Coast. So I also need to find out if a company like Microsoft agrees to a US address in the east for the 6 months in the US.
