For the h1 holders and aspirants, which would you consider as the better option for my case. I have an h1b and working for decent pay in Michigan. However it's a pain to try and jump ship on h1b. I also have a Canada PR but I've heard the pay takes a cut when you move above the border. So I'm stuck between sticking around on h1 with better pay and little career growth vs lower pay and possibly more growth and peace of mind with a PR. What do you suggest? Data scientist profile.

Being a Canadian born, worked there 10 years. Now in the US for 5 years. I can tell you without hesitation that the cost of living is really lower in Canada.

You can get easily the same quality of life with 20% less of TC.

Get the PR, quicker path to citizenship and you can always return to the US for opportunities in the future.

Oh ok, I thought the 3 yrs was conditional for those who went to school in Canada or something, eitherway, 3 or 4 yrs max and he is free to do whatever he wants after.. Instead of years hoping elsewhere.

It’s actually 4 years to get citizenship. The whole process takes a year after your eligible. You are eligible if you’ve spent total 1095 days in Canada and filed tax returns in previous 3 years.

    OP
I'm not looking forward to a GC. Right now better pay would mean higher savings but I'm not sure if that will take care of itself in the long run in Canada.

What do you see yourself enjoying 10 yrs in the future? Is it a lot of money with constant fear of losing your visa status OR stability with decent pay?

As you are in michigan, I doubt you making shitload money at present.
