I'm closing in on the final interview phase with Amazon for a non-technical Project Manager role in Nashville, TN, and I'm trying to wrap my head around their salary structure so I can negotiate appropriately if an offer is extended.

I have 7-8 years of PjM experience, 2-3 of which are IT-specific (2017-2020). From what I understand, this puts me in the L5 category? I think? Can anyone provide insight and/or give me a ballpark of what I should expect from Amazon should they extend an offer? My current company woefully underpays their PjMs, so my personal experience is pretty skewed.

TIA!

7-8 could be L5 or L6. Structure will be Base, RSU’s, and Sign-On. This is just a guess, but I’d say an L5 can expect 100k Base, 60k stock, 20k sign-on

TN is considered a discount market so the TC range is lower than the rest of the company locations (NYC and SFO and the premium markets)

7 years of experience seems very high for a L5 position. Is it for a specialised function?

For context, I joined as a grad at L4 and reached L6 in 3 years.

I know everyone's path is different but I do not know many non tech folks with that experience that are L5.

The concern is your interview loop may not have a bar raiser (look it up) to identify this and take action.

Definitely worth raising the Q with your recruiter if the level matches your experience..

I have been a hiring manager on a loop with no bar raisers for L5. This may differ as I believe that each country has slightly different processes on the recruitment process.

Interesting. I'm the Seattle area at least, and presumably in all of the US, it's not allowed to make any job offer without a BR. Even intern return offers have to be reviewed by BRs before being official.

Theoretically the loop could happen, but it would be useless. Sometimes BRs are skipped for internal transfer loops as well since those people already passed BR before.
