I recently tried to do an internal transfer. Had my informational meeting with the hiring manager. Cleared phone screen. Cleared 4 rounds of technical interviews. But then the hiring manager went on a vacation so I followed up with the skip manager who was one of the interviewers. He told me he is definitely interested in proceeding, but need to talk to my current manager before doing so. It is at this point I just dont feel comfortable of continuing because I donโt want to risk being hated by current manager without having an offer in hand.
Wondering if this is the standard process of internal transfer? If so, I might as well just look for external opportunities since I have to go through interviews anyways plus I can told them not to contact my current employer.
