How is 135k base + 70k stock + 5k bonus (HR said they do not give joining bonus but agreed for 5k) sound for Software engineer role with 3.5 yrs experience?? Also, how is it working in Oakland? I'm very skeptical because of the location. Please help as I don't have much thinking time with the offer. Any advice is appreciated!
Compensation sounds low IMHO. Not familiar with Pandora comp specifically; just thinking of some other companies.
The number sounds low. TC 150K is Amazon entry level SDE1 package in Bay area. For 3.5 yoe you might get better offer elsewhere if you interview well.
I wouldn’t bet on Pandora’s survival. But take it if you want a base boost. https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.com/money/2018/03/29/media/pandora-internet-radio-future/index.html
Your total comp is about 155-160. I have the same years of xp. Highest offer I got was Fb for 260, not counting sign on which added another 100. You should shop around.
Regarding location - it is really awesome. Quite safe to walk around. Not exaggerating but the number of restaurants within 10 mins walk wins over any location in the Bay Area. Barts are not that crowded as compared to Sf and Bart station is 5 mins walk away.
With a brisk walk the walk is closer to 4min to BART
If he/she joins now, the current stock price would be to their advantage. It is still low but steadily rising. Few people joined when the stock prices was hovering $4. Now they have already made ~2x. I am pretty sure we will hit at least $13 in a year.
70k stocks per 4 years?
Stocks should be over 3 years at Pandora
70k stock per year is not bad.
It’s usually 4y , unless agreed otherwise
