Got an exciting opportunity to interview for PM at Twitch! Just wondering if anyone can help me with any pointers or suggestions to ace it? This is something I've been wanting to do for a very long time! Maybe to start off: is there a format like El Goog and FB? Is it like Amazons interviews? Appreciate any suggestions!
Come on folks help a G out here. Bump.
Each interviewer is matched to a twitch core value or two. Read the core values and think of a story for each. Much more behavioral than case.
Thank you! Finally! Are these core values the same as amazons? (Aka the leadership principles)
Does twitch offer any rsu ‘s or stocks ?
I think so but not sure as this is my first time interviewing with them.
Yes. You get Amazon stock.
Anyone from Twitch can help chime in? Not a lot of info available online for PM interviews
PM interviews will be largely case questions and some basic sql questions. It is true that interviewers are “assigned” a company value, but I don’t think it’s reflected in the questioning to be honest. The interview will largely depend on the team/product you’re interviewing for. VOD will probably ask some questions about a YouTube-like feature, creator experience about building tools for creators. Twitch gets Amazon RSUs which is arguably one of the best perks.
Thanks for the great insights .. how are the engineering and data science teams there ? And interviews ?
Engineering and data science teams are great. Super smart people. The caveat is that the tech stack is fractured and immature, no tooling infrastructure, no QA. Company desperately needs a technical leader like a CTO. Same story on the data science side. Most DS teams are doing basic analytics work bc there’s very little analytics support. The leader of DS is smart but very inexperienced, so lots of structural processes that exist of other companies same size don’t exist at Twitch. Moral of the story, if you like re-building the wheel and like the chaos of a startup, even one that is 1500 people strong, you’ll like Twitch.
The PM org at Twitch is pretty fractured. They don't have any centralized leadership so quality of interviewers really really vary. If you're coming from a FANG company this likely isn't going to be a cultural fit for you. I'd recommend doing research on the individual interviewers day of. Be careful of any PMs that are pre acquisition as they are largely motivated by hiring people junior to them.
Ah thank you for the insight! Is there a specific format (product design, estimate, etc)? It actually sounds pretty fun! I thrive in chaotic environments 😁
Any insights on total comp there? Have my first phone call, but don’t want to waste time if it’s below 300k.
Leave my position alone 😂 lol jk
It is below 300k
How did the interview go? Care to share? And how did you get noticed? Through applying online vs referral?
How does twitch is doing ? Do they give RSU’s and how’s the package ?
Lol when I get to cross that bridge I'll ask those questions 😂
