Getting really bored with what I’m doing on a day to day basis. I’m not doing enough real engineering work, and I don’t feel like I’m growing.
I’m thinking that moving to software engineering is the next step but I’m not sure how to bridge the gap in skill set. Definitely don’t want my compensation to go in the other direction, though.
Is SRE a fine place to spend career or is SWE really the greener pasture?

The big upside of FB vs LI is like 90% less political bullshit involved in doing a necessary project. Downside is that there’s a bit of anarchy that comes with that. Other upside: SWE pivot is easier.
