Hi Blindfam, I am currently on STEM OPT which ends Dec 2020, but my H1B didn't get picked in 2020 lottery which was my last chance at it. what are companies offering under similar circumstances? TC : 130K YOE : 4 years #immigration #stem #sandiego #faang #intuit #qualcomm #servicenow #salesforce #microsoft #sap #uber #paypal #workvisa #h1b
Mine was not picked this year as well. I've one last chance next year but since its totally random, a backup option companies have is to transfer to another location for a year and to bring back employee on L1. No cap limits. But your L1 status is tied to your employer in that case.
To be safe move to a FAANG company. They will relocate you to a country of your choice
Faang or other companies are pretty careful nowadays before they start interviewing.... They ask your visa status and how many months left on it Example.. My friend was denied to interview by Facebook... Because he had less than 24 months opt left.... He Infact had 22 months left
You can start second masters... Like itu University or university of Cumberland etc... Which provides day one cpt masters program... A lot of people easily manage these easy masters programs while working full time With this option... You can continue working in your current employer... On day one cpt f1 status.... And this gives you another 2 h1b lottery attempts... Also with second masters you only get cpt... Not second opt.... Beware
Thank you for the details. I am not sure how far my employer will support the day 1 CPT, kind of got hits from my HR team. Do you think I have a shot at full time jobs with my current left over OPT, followed by day 1 CPT ?
don't do day 1 CPT. University of Farmington is a sob story, where the DHS ran a sham University, created lots of record and deported everyone involved. So please please don't do these. Search for the University and you will know the details of what happened. It's not pretty
Good luck 🤞
Honestly Amazon is your best bet right now
Currently I am planning to go for day 1 CPT, with PHD program, do you think this would be better than day 1 CPT with MBA program? I already have my masters In Cs.
Check out nonprofit jobs that can sponsor cap exempt H1B like University, research organization, wikimedia, etc. They all sponsor h1b without lottery through non profit h1b.
What did you eventually do op?
sorry to hear that. are u still at sony? check with ur immigration team. most likely see if they can move u to a different office outside the country? and find a way to bring u back in?
