Is there a sense to try to get into SWE-SRE(NG) or Production Engineer(at Facebook) without experience in pure Software development? I mean, I love and can solve algo challenges at Leetcode, write some python scripts for automation everyday routines, but I don't have any experience in Object-Oriented coding or software architecting? I'm more ops-person(k8s, clouds, Linux, HA services, ci/cd, a bit networks, etc.) than swe, but don't want to get stuck here. So, should I make downgrade in salary and get a junior developer job before to fit these roles?
@chiller is probably full of sh*t.. PE/Sre are respectable and good role and the demand is increasing..imo I think sre is a good stepping stone into swe role about 70% coding and 30%..
I’m not saying they’re not respectable. I went through the FB PE process and know the SRE skillset. What I’m saying is is that you’re not that important to a company compared to someone who ships features that make money. SRE is an afterthought
@chiller I think you were very badly rejected 🙅♂️ from FB PE process
If you want help with the PE interview PM me. I can help you avoid some of the mistakes I made.

Hey bra, don’t do PE or SRE. Bad for your career
SWE-SRE seems ok
And why is that? From what I've heard it's pretty respectable position
