SWE leveling @ Asana

Hello,

Received positive feedback from interviews at Asana. Had a conversation with an EM there but wasn’t very clear on how leveling for SWE worked.

Do they have a career path for ICs? Like Staff/ Sr Staff?
What’s the role of a team lead? Is it a level above L5?

    Oh interesting. Thank you so much for the insight. I have been offered L5. Though I did remember mentioning the recruiter that I was doing more of L6 at my current role.

    Any idea if the interview is generic and leveling is decided based on the interview?

    Also the insights into levels beyond L5 would be great.

      Interviews are usually geared towards an experience level but your performance on interviews will determine your final level.

      Asana doesn’t do public leveling but their internal leveling system is pretty much standard across industry. L5 is senior and L6 is considered staff.

    Team lead is an IC engineer who not only codes but is also a project manager or TPM for the team.

    The individual need not be L5+
