I'm just curious what sets you apart from us "ordinary" engineers. Do you close tickets faster? Always have optimized code? Always have tests in place? Work harder or more efficiently than I do?
Leetcode
Idk honestly. Just lucky maybe. My TC is 335k. Don't do anything special
Higher level system design and implementation. Being able to break down complex macro problems into small modular pieces that can be accurately measured and delivered on time. Leetcode has nothing to do with actual work.
Theoretically, we work on systems that make so much money that we can build websites that cost a team $1M+ a year to build and still make money.
Nothing special, passed fang interview
Masters in CS to FANG
Nothing too exciting, get my work done and then some at a decent pace and do it well. Shouldn't need to do much more than that.
It’s incredible simple and has almost nothing to do with actual ability. Just Leetcode, study system design problems, do some practice interviews, and get a job at FAANG or top company. Basically it’s like studying for a dumb multi-part test except you can get paid incredibly well if you pass.
I should also mention, I was way more productive at smaller startups where my TC was shit, as compared to Uber or some of the “top companies” I worked at.
Got a clearance with an internship, then negotiated a bit with AWS to bump up the standard new grad offer. TC: $205K, YOE: 0 (MS in CS tho)
