Hi fellow blinders. Recently got accepted into multiple hedge funds (in NY,SF,Chicago). As this is my first time considering SWE positions outside of tech, I do not have that much knowledge about the structure of the compensation in such finance companies. Will be speaking with the actual teams about this, but would like to prepare beforehand. Basically in tech the comp usually consists of joining bonus, relocation bonus, base, stock, bonus at the end of the year. You also have yearly stock refreshes and at least 5% raise each year. What is the structure for fintech? Can anyone share some details?
As a quant? What were interviews like?
As an ML/SWE. Way harder than FB/Amazon/Google (at least for me). Some standard SWE interviews, few ML-related, but also a lot of questions related to stats/probability/math.
Congrats. Which firms ?
I will not share them for privacy reasons.
Ok. How did you get them interview you for ML SWE/Quant role ? Did you have prior ML/Stats experience ? From my observation, they usually don't interview SWEs even at top tech companies for quant roles and prefer PhDs.
Do they not explain the compensation structure in your offers?

Worried that our top performer is an attrition risk. How do managers handle this?
Base + bonus. You’ll get a relocation package and probably some sort of temporary corporate housing depending on what firm it is. Bonus target depends on your level and firm performance but 100+% is quite common.
Thank you very much.
