Got a verbal offer from Citadel as an SDE in the NXT program (not Citadel Securities). Researched about it and learnt about the cut-throat culture. Are SDEs getting fired frequently? Is it safe to join on H1b or is it better to join only when I have green card? I'm worried about getting fired and I have only 60 days to land on another job on H1b. It's a verbal offer, I have not heard from them about the TC yet. Current TC: 180k #citadel #citadeloffer
Offer?
Probably a high risk high reward gig (I think their base is like 300k range), if u are after safety look elsewhere.
Yeah after getting into Citadel you wouldn't be hard pressed to find another job
Be prepared to have backup offers every month!
Few questions: 1. Location? 2. Offer? 3. What questions did they ask in the interview?
Chicago. I don't know the offer details yet. The interview questions are leetcode easy/medium level ones. One example: write an algorithm to sort an array in place without using for/while loops (you can use recursion).
Citadel interviews seem to have high variability
In 5 years I have NEVER seen a mediocre or better SWE let go. Of the few people that were let go, they were legit bad developers that already made $BANK$ and were coasting for > 1yr. If you worked on their team, everyone knew they didn’t really care. Every company has people like that and unlike other places, Citadel isn’t afraid to get rid of them. In my opinion that is a good thing. The market is so competitive that we would never let go of a competent engineer. You have nothing to worry about.
Did you hear about TC
Did they come back with an offer?
Hey can I message you about your interview? I would greatly appreciate it

I'd say if you're capable enough to get into Citadel, you're capable of surviving, and finding something in 60 days in case things go south. Take it.
