Is 130K with a 13% - 15% annual bonus at Volkswagen, Seattle good for SDE role? YOE - 5 Years ( 2 Yrs US + 3 Yrs India )
Why not also tag amazon? Also no, should shoot for more. Itโs quite low for 5 YoE.
I think ~130k is about average for Senior Engineers at my company in a city with a 40-60% lower CoL. I would personally shoot for more unless you dread interview prep, or are working with a super good WLB (IE: working a lot less than 40h/week). You should be able to get that up higher at any software company, if you're shooting for mid-level at FAANG you'll land somewhere around $250k. For non-tech companies that seems maybe a little low but close to average according to Paysa.
Thanks for the response. True, I agree with you. In my company they are paying nearly 100K for senior engineers (depends on Tech) WLB in my team is simply perfect. Iโm enjoying my personal life with job. However, my pay is low here with my YOE :(
Yeah I feel you, my WLB is really good right now but I have the itch for more pay and responsibility so I started prepping. I'm alright with what I'm getting straight out of college but I've had multiple seniors tell me that raises never keep you current, and it's best to come here at a salary level you're already comfortable with. That tends to be what I hear about most companies unfortunately. Good luck in your hunt! Hopefully you can grab some fat stacks from a big tech company.
