I am interviewing with a real estate company in Austin, TX for a Product Manager position. The company wants to launch a few tech products. I had a phone and an in-person interview after which the director asked me to email her with an expected salary and start date. I am trying to decide on the number I should quote; or whether it should be a range. Since it is a non-tech company I think their salary range might be lower than a regular tech company. My basic research reveals that PDM TC generally ranges between 110 and 145, with outliers on either side. I am currently at 93 TC, at which I consider myself underpaid. Don’t sell yourself short by discounting the value of your work just because KW isn’t a pure SW company. Check out levels.fyi and benchmark yourself on your fav tech company. Take that TC and use that to make your request for pay and title.
Thanks for advice! This website looks great. Although this seems to be more geared towards Bay Area/Seattle it does give an idea of where salaries lie. I've collected Austin specific salary data from 6 job sites and plan to present that while negotiating.
