Hey guys!
Expecting an offer soon for a principal software engineer at the McLean, Virginia office.
Originally interviewed for the Master Software Engineer position. The interviews went very well, but there were a few questions where I didn't answer sufficiently in the coding session. Recruiter said I was downgraded and asked if I'd consider the principle (Senior) swe and I said yes.
Original expectations was that TC would be around 200k, but with the downgrade now I'm not sure if I should lower my expectations given my total 12 yoe.
Team match call went really well and I immediately got the notice afterwards that they are very interested in having me join the team.
What should I be expecting for an initial offer, and how far could I go with negotiations given my yoe?
What can be negotiated at this level besides base salary? Bonus? Stocks? PTO? Others?
Thanks for all the input!
Edit: cleared the meta tech screen, waiting on Google tech screen result (hopefully positive but not sure)
UPDATE: first offer was 160k, 20k sign on bonus
Final accepted offer 175k and 40k sign on.
Thanks all for your input!!!
Location: McLean, VA
YOE: 12
Current TC: 135k
