What would be the minimum salary to live a comfortable life in the redwood city area (nice apartment/house and still be able to be get some fun and save some money)?
I lived in redwood City on 60k/year with no roommates and student loans. 'live' really means different things to different people
Depends. Do you have kids? With 2 daycare/preschool going kids need household TC to be ~$300k to be comfortable.
Depends on your definition of comfortable and nice. For some (esp not in tech) that would be 50-60k, for others it would be 200k+ minimum. Redwood City is more affordable housing wise than other parts of the peninsula so it’s certain lower than Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Mountain View, etc.
Sorry, forgot to mention, tech area. Apartment does not need to be fancy. But from some quick search a “nice” one would be around 4-5k+. So wondering if you can actually make it getting less than 200k
