At the moment, I’m working for MS in the Wealth Management space, but want to make a switch. Wealth Management isn’t bad at all, but I don’t want to be here long-term. Though this is only month 2, I’m tying to make a transition onto the Sales side of S&T by next July. I’ve been putting time into curating a story that sells for S&T, while researching interview questions. I understand how S&T functions within the bank and what I will be expected of me as an analyst. However, I don’t know it all of course! Currently, I’m looking into MS, BAML, Baird, Wells, and Raymond James (St. Petersburg). I’m curious to know if anyone has insight into the compensation structure and career progression at these banks. Also, what are the exit opportunities for those on the Sales side of S&T that may want a new scene?
Sales and trading is seeing reductions across the board. I would stop and think about life choices before making the switch
I understand where you’re coming from, especially with Deutsche... Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t most of the attrition seen on the equity desks?
Its all about automated hedging and crb books for banks..... . Lots of money still to be made in Vol desks or structured desks . You will need to know more than stupid leetcode😂 Work hard on stats, probability, stochastic calc and linear algebra.
Yea dude! Stupid LeetCode is 2 ez for high IQ like u!
Leetcode is not about iq. Its mostly about practice and conceptually they don't test u much.
Not a good industry... avoid
135k( Goldman) or less 90k baird for first year S&T’s in total cash comp. as you move up ranks you can get to about 250k pretty quickly( about 5 years out of college) but most people do not make MD so you generally hop from bank to bank for an extra 25 to 50k every year or two. All said and done your 32 years old making about 300 k if you are ok, and 400k if you are good, if you end up a star then you made MD and will make your 1 mill
RIP
Stay in wealth mgmt..longer term career opportunity
Uhhh how many leetcodes have you done?
I haven’t 😳
Would I need that for Sales though?
